May 21, 2026 |

In Vietnam, Vietnam News reports the country may need to spend around $1 billion annually importing ethanol to support its nationwide E10 biofuel mandate, which begins June 1. E10 fuel contains 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline, and demand is expected to rise sharply once the policy takes effect. The Ministry of Industry and Trade estimates ethanol demand will reach up to 100,000 cubic meters per month, while domestic production currently stands at only about 25,000 cubic meters. As a result, Vietnam will likely need to import roughly 75,000 cubic meters of ethanol monthly during the first year of implementation.
