May 21, 2026 |

In Washington, Brownfield Ag News reports Energy Information Administration data shows U.S. ethanol production rose to 1.111 million barrels per day, the highest level since early April, as seasonal maintenance at plants eased. Output increased by 29,000 barrels from the previous week and was 75,000 higher than a year earlier, supported by strong demand expectations and favorable margins. Ethanol stocks edged up slightly to 24.875 million barrels, remaining above year-ago levels. Refiners and blenders modestly increased ethanol purchases, while gasoline demand also improved. However, ethanol exports declined week over week to 149,000 barrels per day, though they remained significantly higher than last year.
