Uzbekistan eyes SAF investment with Henderson Land Group
In Azerbaijan, Trend reported that Uzbekistan and Hong Kong-based Henderson Land Group explored investment opportunities in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production during a meeting between Deputy Agriculture Minister Alisher Shukurov and a delegation led by the company’s Chairman Peter Lee Ka-kit.
The talks focused on prospective investment projects aimed at supporting the country’s green economy agenda, including the use of renewable energy and the production of high-value products from agricultural biomass, according to the report.
A key topic of the meeting was the potential development of SAF projects in Uzbekistan. The two sides reviewed opportunities to cultivate drought-resistant oilseed crops on 1 million to 1.5 million hectares of saline and underutilized land in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Bukhara and Navoi regions to provide feedstock for SAF production, the report added.
Representatives of EcoCeres, a company specializing in decarbonization technologies, presented solutions for producing renewable diesel (HVO), sustainable aviation fuel, bioethanol and other biochemicals using waste vegetable oils, food industry by-products and agricultural biomass as feedstocks.
