USDA cultivates buzz for Biobased Products Day

March 9, 2026 |

In the US, Sunday, March 8 marked the fourth annual National Biobased Products Day, an event created by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to amplify the efforts of innovators and the economic benefits of the US bioeconomy

According to the USDA’s BioPreferred program, National Biobased Products Day is “designed to raise awareness of biobased products—how they’re made, what they’re made from, their many benefits, and the wide variety of products available for use at home, in the office, on the playground, at construction sites and even in landscaping.”

In the weeks leading up to March 8, USDA promoted the day on social media, in its BioBuzz and BioBuzzGov newsletters, and at trade events and conferences. It also encouraged participants and stakeholders to find creative ways to celebrate the day and provided graphics for use in promotions.
