The Packaging that was Promised: Distillery taps Woamy foam for Game of Thrones-inspired whisky set
In Finland, Kyrö Distillery has chosen circular, biobased foam packaging for an upcoming whisky-tasting set inspired by the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Founded in 2022, Woamy is an Aalto University spin-out and operates a production line in Espoo. The foam is made from cellulose, wood waste, and agricultural waste.
“Woamy was chosen because of its sustainability and performance and capability to protect whisky sample bottles and fragile glass. Woamy’s material is unique and gives a premium finishing to our sample set. We are extremely happy about this cooperation and pleased with the final product,” Matti Kovanen, brand & marketing director at Kyrö, said in a Woamy press statement.
Kyrö described the collection as drawing inspiration from the theme of “Fire and Blood,” where “storytelling and craftsmanship collide in every drop.” The promotional set will only be available to selected partners and media representatives.
