Planting of second corn crop advances in Brazil
In Brazil, Noticias Agricolas reported that planting of the 2026 second corn crop reached 31% of the estimated area for the Center-South of Brazil on February 12, compared to 22% a week earlier and 36% in the same period last year, according to a survey by AgRural.
Mato Grosso leads the pace of work, followed by Paraná. In this second state, however, as well as in areas of Mato Grosso do Sul, higher temperatures and drier weather are already worrying producers who have crops in germination and vegetative development, the report stated.
Finally, the 2025/26 summer corn was 22% harvested in the Center-South of Brazil by February 12 compared to 15% the previous week and 29% a year ago. In Rio Grande do Sul, areas planted later are feeling the impact of the drought, it added.
