Soybean production in Argentina to reach 48 million tons, exchange finds
In Argentina, el Litoral reported that the latest report from the Rosario Board of Trade (BCR) stated that soybean production for the ongoing crop cycle will reach 48 million tons, with a national average yield of 30.8 quintals per hectare.
Although the projected volume exceeds by 1 million tons the forecast made at the time of planting, it is below the expectations that the sector had a month ago and represents a drop of 1.5 million tons compared to the previous cycle, according to the report.
The entity noted that the eastern region of the country—southern Córdoba, southern Santa Fe, and east-central Buenos Aires— needs at least 80 millimeters of accumulated rainfall over two weeks to stabilize yields and prevent further reductions.
In contrast, the west, north-central and north of the country show better conditions and are partially compensating for the deterioration of the productive core.
