Oroblù launches corn-based tights line
In Italy, hosiery and women’s apparel brand Oroblù has launched a capsule collection of biobased tights made Fulgar’s Q-GEO polyamide and Renewable LYCRA EcoMade Fiber elastane from The LYCRA Company. The semi-opaque tights are designed for comfort and durability, with a reinforced sole suited to sneakers and booties. Q-GEO derives 50% of its content from industrial corn grown on land not used for rice, wheat or other traditional food crops.
“The use of Q-GEO in combination with LYCRA EcoMade Fiber has enabled us to contribute to the development of a product in which both of its main textile components are derived from renewable sources,” Daniela Antunes, marketing manager, Fulgar, told Fibre2Fashion. “This achievement confirms the role of research and the development of new solutions in supporting the transition towards a textile supply chain that is increasingly attentive to the raw materials it uses.” Renewable LYCRA EcoMade Fiber is made with approximately 70% industrial corn that is not intended for direct human consumption. Together, the two renewable-source fibers give the tights a biobased core. Oroblù is a subsidiary of CSP International Fashion Group.
