Mowilex produces air-cleaning paint from seeds and grass

In Indonesia, Mowilex has created a 28% biobased paint that is not only more sustainable to produce, but also converts harmful formaldehyde into water vapor.

Called Naturalle, the paint swaps petroleum-based resins with ingredients made from seeds, stalks and grasses sourced from Michigan’s Dow, Inc.

“PRIMAL™ RN Biobased Acrylic Emulsion and FORMASHIELD™ Technology from Dow Inc. are incorporated in Mowilex Naturalle paint, offering a sustainable solution and healthier environment to meet asthma and allergy standards,” says Yena Margono, Southeast Asia Marketing Manager for Dow Coating Materials. “As one of the world’s leading materials science companies, Dow Inc. is passionate about discovering innovative, sustainable solutions through joint efforts with our partners.”

Naturalle is available in modern colors and in matte finish. Mowilex is applying to certify the paints through the USDA’s BioPreferred® Program.
