RUCO app tracks UCO collection in India


In India, the Biodiesel Association of India is launching a used cooking oil aggregation system to repurpose the oil into biodiesel. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has set a target of converting about 2.2 million tons of used cooking oil into biodiesel by 2022, which will save fuel, according to The Hindu Business Line.

At the launch of the RUCO app which will be used to track the UCO collection from food vendors/restaurants and food processing units, Pawan Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI, told The Hindu Business Line, “This initiative will address three aspects of public health, economy and environment safety.” The app was launched by BDAI in association with FSSAI and Gujarat State Food and Drug Control Administration.
