In Maryland, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is looking for answers on the ethical, legal and social implications of human genome research. The way genomic data is being collected, stored, and shared are causing concern for many people who wonder how genomic data is being used and the boundaries between privacy and public information or even medical care information. NIH is soliciting researcher applications to look into these issues and others like patient rights, economics of genomic medicine, and clinical use of genomic health information.

NIH didn’t specify the amount of total funding available for this research as it largely depends on NIH appropriations and how many applications come in.
