Milan Design Week installation highlights Thailand artistry, renewable materials

April 13, 2026 |

In Italy, Thailand’s Slow Hand Design 2026 exhibit at Milan Design Week is spotlighting how renewable materials and traditional craftsmanship can shape a more sustainable design future.  The exhibit includes Mush Composites’ Mush Art Tiles, which are made from mycelium and agricultural byproducts that combine to create solid, stone‑like surfaces. INDIN STUDIO contributed a biobased melanin fiber that was developed through a natural soil‑based process. WASOO included fire‑retardant, sound‑absorbing tiles made from rice husks and coffee parchment, with organic waste used as pigment.

Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion and curated by Eggarat Wongcharit, the showcase highlights how Thai artisans and designers are reimagining heritage through biobased innovation.
