Kazakhstan launches first full-cycle green hydrogen pilot project

May 21, 2026 |

In Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reported that Kazakhstan has launched its first pilot full-cycle green hydrogen production complex, marking a major step in the country’s transition toward low-carbon energy and advanced clean technologies.

The initiative is part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, in line with national development priorities set by the government, according to the report.

The pilot system produces green hydrogen using solar energy, where electricity generated from solar panels splits water into hydrogen and oxygen. The resulting fuel can be used without carbon emissions, producing only water vapor when consumed, it added.

The project also includes a 200 kW solar power plant consisting of 336 photovoltaic modules, which has already generated significant operational savings since its launch in 2025.
