India’s Greendot Biopak doubles down on biobased packaging coatings

April 13, 2026 |

In India, sustainable packaging company Greendot Biopak Pvt. Ltd. is ramping up development of 100% biobased, home‑compostable aqueous barrier coatings for paper and paperboard to meet rising demand for renewable alternatives to single‑use plastics in foodservice and global export markets.

Made entirely from renewable raw materials such as starch, plant proteins, seaweed extracts, cellulose, waxes and natural oils, the company’s coatings deliver grease resistance, heat‑sealability and high repulpability without relying on modified plastics. The materials are certified under EN 13432 and IS/ISO 17088 for compostability and are designed to support home‑compostable end‑of‑life pathways.

Greendot Biopak’s solutions are already being used in takeaway boxes, cups, wraps, trays and flexible paper formats, offering a renewable alternative for food delivery, QSR and packaged food brands seeking SUPD‑exempt, toxin‑free and fully compostable packaging.
