CRI delivers reactor for 170,000-tonne e-methanol plant in China
In China, Carbon Recycling International delivered and installed an e-methanol reactor at Tianying Group’s Liaoyuan project in Jilin province on June 29, advancing a plant designed to produce about 170,000 tonnes of renewable methanol annually. Commissioning and start-up are scheduled for later this year.
CRI said the reactor is the largest built for an e-methanol facility and forms the core of its Emissions-to-Liquids technology. It will convert green hydrogen and captured biogenic carbon dioxide into methanol for shipping, chemical production and other industrial uses.
The third-generation reactor was designed for flexible operation. Once commissioned, CRI said the first phase of the Liaoyuan facility will be the world’s largest operating e-methanol plant, following earlier commercial deployments of its technology in Anyang and Lianyungang.
