Bio-LNG bunkering links Klaipėda terminal to Gotland ferries
In Lithuania, Anew Climate and Avenir said they completed their first joint bio-LNG bunkering at the Port of Klaipėda LNG terminal, loading certified waste based liquefied biomethane onto an Avenir vessel for delivery to Sweden. The companies said the fuel is intended for ferries operated by Destination Gotland.
Anew said the shipment draws from its biomethane portfolio and is delivered as certified fuel through existing LNG infrastructure. The companies framed the operation as Anew’s first European bunkering project following the company’s inaugural bio-LNG bunkering at the Port of Long Beach, California in October, 2025. Destination Gotland said it will increase its use of bio-LNG in 2026 and plans to use pooling to support FuelEU Maritime compliance.
