April 2, 2026 |

In India, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said four major ports have placed work orders for electric tugs under its Green Tug Transition Program, part of a wider push under the Harit Sagar Green Port Guidelines that also includes shore power for smaller craft and port electrification measures.

In the same update, the ministry pointed to port side hydrogen work under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. It said the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has recognized Deendayal Port Authority, Paradip Port Authority and V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority as Green Hydrogen Hubs. Deendayal has commissioned a 1 MW electrolyzer based green hydrogen plant. V.O. Chidambaranar has commissioned a pilot green hydrogen plant, and Paradip has an approved public private partnership for a green hydrogen and green ammonia handling jetty.
