ACI APAC & MID encourages greater airport readiness to scale SAF
In Hong Kong, Airports Council International reported that at the recent SAF APAC Summit 2026 in Melbourne, Australia, Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) joined industry stakeholders to address the role of the airports in enabling credible carbon accounting, accelerating SAF readiness, and stakeholder alignment.
Speaking at the panel: “Sharing a Cleaner Sky: Building a Regional SAF Network,” Ken Lau, Head, Sustainability, ACI APAC & MID, shared insights on regional SAF corridors.
As APAC nations are progressing at varying paces in SAF deployment, a regional network creates vital synergy, to leverage each other’s strengths in implementing SAF. Though traditionally the concept of regional SAF corridor involve large hub airports, but we should not neglect other regional airports that could have location advantage for SAF deployment, he said.
Ken also emphasized the importance of harmonizing policy across diverse jurisdictions, which could be supported by establishing national and regional SAF coalitions and stakeholder task forces that helps align industry positions and streamline engagement with governments.
