Zac Efron is building a remote “hemp house” in Australia
In Australia, actor Zac Efron has commissioned an off-grid house made out of hemp and other renewable materials. Dubbed “Futurecave,” the $2.65 million house is being built on a 128-acre plot in New South Wales. Designer Joost Bakker and architect Frank Burride are overseeing construction, according to Realtor.com. In addition to hemp, materials for the six-bedroom house include oyster shells, agricultural waste, and particle boards.
“I live a pretty fast-paced life and work quite a bit, so in between movies and press tours, my number one goal is always to take time for myself and rest and recharge and to be in nature as much as possible, and as close to the earth as I can, and this land just feels like it’s perfect for that,” Efron told Australian Financial Review late last year. Efron is best known for his breakout role as teen heartthrob Troy Bolton in High School Musical.
