UK launches green energy verification scheme for SAF
In India, BioEnergy Times reported that a new scheme to independently verify sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across the UK supply chain has been launched, aimed at strengthening transparency and supporting emission reduction efforts.
Zemo Partnership announced the rollout of RFAS Aviation to address the need for a standard approach to tracking and verifying SAF use within the aviation sector, according to the report.
The organization said the absence of such a system had made it difficult for airlines to prove emissions reductions under the UK Emissions Trading Scheme, while also limiting the ability of fuel suppliers to provide sustainability credentials to customers.
RFAS Aviation builds on the existing Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme already used in the road transport sector and is open to companies supplying SAF to the UK aviation industry, the report added.
