UK commits £271 million to green shipping and port infrastructure
In the United Kingdom, the government has announced £271 million in grants to decarbonize the maritime sector, with funding available for clean fuels, green boat fuel infrastructure and zero emission vessel development across coastal communities from Teesport to Bristol.
The grants, part of a broader £448 million clean maritime commitment, are open for applications this month. Previous recipients include ACUA Ocean in Plymouth, which built a hydrogen-controlled remote vessel for offshore infrastructure monitoring, and Ensemble Analytics, which deployed AI to improve efficiency at the Port of Newport.
