U.S. Grains Council takes Japanese journalists on ethanol-to-marine-fuel tour
In the United States, the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council escorted a group of Japanese business journalists through Illinois and Texas to build understanding of bioethanol as a feedstock for sustainable marine fuel.
The delegation visited an ethanol plant operated by Marquis in Illinois, toured a working corn farm, and attended a seminar at the University of Illinois Chicago’s Energy Resources Center covering carbon intensity scoring and the environmental profile of sustainable marine fuel.
The program concluded in Houston with visits to the American Bureau of Shipping and fuel storage and logistics firm Advario.
Earlier stops included Washington, D.C., where the group met with U.S. Department of Agriculture biofuel experts and representatives from industry groups Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association.
