Repsol starts co-processed fuel supply in Algeciras
In Spain, Manifold Times reports energy company Repsol has begun commercial supply of co-processed marine fuels with renewable content at the port of Algeciras, one of the Mediterranean’s busiest bunkering hubs.
The launch coincided with the first commercial voyage of Repsol’s new bunkering vessel Bahía Candela, which loaded co-processed fuel at the company’s Petronor refinery in Bilbao before delivering to Algeciras. Repsol chartered the vessel from shipowner Mureloil.
Bahía Candela features multiproduct capabilities and a diesel-electric propulsion system with advanced energy storage, designed to reduce emissions during bunkering operations.
Co-processing integrates renewable feedstocks such as oils and residues into conventional refinery streams, producing fuels compatible with existing engines and infrastructure without requiring modifications to vessels or port assets.
