Thailand enters global aviation fuel market with bioenergy-based SAF launch

May 19, 2026 |

In India, BioEnergy Times reported that Thai company Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited began commercial production of SAF.

The production is taking place at a dedicated unit at the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery, making it the country’s first fully operational standalone facility using HEFA-SPK technology. The fuel is produced from renewable sources such as used cooking oil, highlighting the growing role of bioenergy in the aviation sector, Bangchak reported.

In addition to the production unit, the group has built an integrated system for collecting and processing used cooking oil, converting it into SAF and renewable diesel.

The report also noted that the company is set to export its first batch of SAF on May 19.
