In India, BioEnergy Times reported that US-based clean energy firm Syzygy Plasmonics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brazil’s Geo bio gas&carbon to develop commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel projects in Brazil.

The agreement is part of Syzygy’s global expansion of its NovaSAF platform and adds to a series of recent international partnerships aimed at building large-scale infrastructure to convert biogas into aviation fuel amid rising global demand for SAF, according to the report.

Under the MoU, Geo bio gas&carbon will bring its experience in developing and operating biogas assets, while Syzygy will deploy its electrified GHG e-Reforming technology to convert biogas produced from sugarcane crop residues into SAF and other low-carbon fuels in Brazil.

The report also noted that the initial phase of the partnership will focus on sites capable of producing up to 100,000 metric tons of fuel per year. The companies said the long-term plan is to scale up production to more than 525,000 metric tons annually.
