Spain’s Hinojosa creates a biodegradable plant pot for nurseries
In Spain, Hinojosa Packaging Group has created a line of cellulose-based, biodegradable plant pots in partnership with tree and plant protection company Cuidatree. Featuring a 100% biobased coating, the bio-pot addresses a key challenge in agricultural and reforestation nurseries. Biodegradable pots are more sustainable than conventional plastic containers and can also be planted directly into the soil, eliminating the need to remove the container, reducing labor, and minimizing disturbance to plant roots during transplanting.
Trials showed that under normal weather conditions, bio-pot remains structurally stable for up to seven months.
The bio-pot is part of Hinojosa Packaging Group’s portfolio, which also includes agricultural trays and crates designed to meet customers’ needs for protecting, preserving, and marketing fruits and vegetables.
