Singapore, Brazil move to build green fuel shipping corridor
In Singapore on August 28, Singapore and Brazil agreed to establish a green and digital shipping corridor aimed at developing alternative marine fuel supply chains and improving maritime operations between the two countries.
Brazil brings large renewable energy resources and production capacity that could support zero and near zero greenhouse gas marine fuels. Singapore is the world’s largest bunkering port and a major global shipping hub, giving the partnership a potential route from fuel production to commercial marine use.
The countries also plan to explore digital information exchanges to improve port and shipping operations. They will work with industry on research, development and adoption of emerging maritime technologies and solutions.
