SIAD invests $13.5 million in 2MW green hydrogen plant in Italy
In the UK, Gas World reported that Italy-headquartered SIAD Group is investing more than $13.5 million in a renewable hydrogen project at its IGAT facility in Pignataro Maggiore, in the Caserta area, including a new electrolyzer alongside an existing air separation unit (ASU).
The project, known as Green Hydrogen IGAT, has a 2MW PEM electrolyzer powered by a dedicated 2.37MWp solar installation and a 1MW battery storage system located on-site, according to the report.
Hydrogen produced by the electrolyzer will be purified to 99.999% and compressed to 500 bar before being supplied to customers in the chemical and manufacturing industries via cylinder bundles or tube trailers, it added.
SIAD said the investment will provide a platform for further research and trials into hydrogen applications in industrial processes, with potential for future expansion depending on demand.
