In Japan, it may have taken two years, but researchers have made it possible to test a biochemical reaction in 10,000 different conditions faster than ever before by using microfluidic technology. Microfluidic technology is relatively new and uses micrometer sized channels to flow liquid through with very accurate control of the fluids compared to traditional technologies. What this means is scientists will now be able to more efficiently test how a biochemical reaction takes place in literally thousands of different scenarios without actually having to manually test each scenario individually, thus saving tons of time. If testing a biochemical reaction in 10,000 different scenarios doesn’t blow your mind, just think back to high school chemistry class where you had to add liquid A to liquid B and wait for a reaction, then change something in the environment and test it again.
