In Malaysia, China-based halal gelatin company, Gangsu Amin Bio Halal Gelatine Co Ltd (Aminbio), is setting up their first factory outside of China and the largest in Southeast Asia once completed and Malaysia may also see a new biofuel facility soon as well.

Entrepreneur Development Minister Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof told The Daily Express that “The Chinese are keen to tap the world’s halal products market.” Mohd Redzuan said he had met with Aminbio Vice-President Ayub Su last Friday, who requested Malaysia’s assistance in setting up the plant and that “they are in the midst of ironing out a few issues such as expertise, location and investment and once the site is finalized, they will be visiting Melaka to sign a few agreements.”

The minister also met with the Beijing Sanju Environmental Protection and New Materials Co Ltd which was keen to build a biofuel production facility in Malaysia. “The company hopes to use palm kernel shells, palm fibre, empty fruit brunches and palm oil milk effluent waste in its biofuel and biofertiliser production, with an estimated investment of US$200 million to build a 400,000-tonne waste processing facility,” he told the Daily Express.
