In California, Illumina, a DNA sequencing company, hired top clinical genomics expert, Gene Hampton, as their new executive vice president of clinical genomics. Hampton will lead their reproductive and genetic health and oncology businesses. Illumina uses their gene sequencing technologies mostly for oncology and reproductive health as well as agriculture and other industries. Francis deSouza, Illumina’s President and Chief Executive Officer told the Times of San Diego, “This is a strategically important hire for Illumina. Garret has been on the front lines of oncology and brings deep expertise in clinical genomics to the leadership team, key to his new role leading our clinical genomics organization.”
