Meatable taps ESCO Aster for cultivated pork production

In the Netherlands, Meatable has partnered with ESCO Aster—the only commercially licensed cultivated meat contract manufacturer in the world—to launch cultivated pork in Singapore.  The partnership will enable Meatable to scale its  cultivated pork products, which include dumplings and sausages.  The two companies aim to begin sales in select restaurants in 2024 and reach supermarket shelves by 2025. 

Singapore—a land constrained country forced to import 90% of its food—was the first to approve cultivated meat for human consumption. That license, granted to ESCO Aster, came in 2020. 

“At Meatable we strongly believe that cultivated meat is the future of food, in order to produce meat sustainably and as local as possible,” says Krijn de Nood, co-founder and CEO of Meatable, in a press statement. “To do that it’s imperative that we provide a wide variety of products to cater for all cuisines, worldwide. Given Singapore’s status as a pioneer of cultivated meat, we’re delighted to be partnering with ESCO Aster to begin production of our cultivated pork products with the aim to launch in restaurants in 2024.”
