New Ananas Anam CEO Manel Echevarria kicks off new phase of growth

In Barcelona, Manel Echevarria has taken the reins at Ananas Anam and plans to guide the vegan leather maker to new growth avenues in fashion, interior design, and automotive.

Ananas Anam produces a leather alternative (Piñatex) and fiber (Piñayarn) from pineapple industry waste. The company has collaborated with Nike, Hugo Boss, H&M, Paul Smith, Ecoalf, and Carolina Herrera.

“The appointment of Manel Echevarria as CEO marks another significant milestone in our preparations for the next phase of growth,” Christian Kurtzke, president of Ananas Anam, told Fashion Network. “Manel will provide the leadership needed to drive growth and scale this solution in a challenging global industry and market environment.”

Echevarria was formerly CEO of fashion label Lacoste Iberia as well as sporting goods company Excens Sports Group. He has held senior positions at Swarovski and MontBlanc.
