In South Korea, cultivated meat startup TissenBioFarm has produced the world’s largest piece of cultivated meat. The slab weighed in at a whopping 10 kg, but its animal of origin was not specified.

The announcement coincided with the opening of South Korea’s Cellular Agriculture Support Center, a 2,300 square meter facility located in the North Gyeongsang Province. The $7-million center aims to develop biomaterials and support cultivated meat companies.

Green Queen  later determined that TissenBioFarm’s prototype was made of animal cells, bioink, food coloring, palm oil and food adhesive. “By the end of this year, we will scale up our cell culture infrastructure, and will showcase 100% cultivated meat (that would translate into approx. 80% cells + 20% bioink and other biomaterials),” TissenBioFarm Chief Strategy Officer La Yeonjoo told the media outlet.
