In the Netherlands, lab-grown meat startup Mosa Meat has closed on an additional $10 million in funding, bringing its total Series B investment round to $85 million.
The company will use the funds to scale production at its Maastricht, Netherlands production facility, where it recently manufactured the world’s first lab-grown beef burger.
The funding round was led by Blue Horizon Ventures, a food technology fund, and also included animal nutrition leader Nutreco and Takeaway.com CEO Jitse Groen.
“The closing of Series B funding brings us one step closer to our mission to develop a cleaner, kinder way of making real beef,” says Maarten Bosch, CEO of Mosa Meat. “Our partners bring immense strategic capabilities and expertise, and share our strong commitment to increasing the sustainability of our global food system.”
