In Texas, plastic fabricator FKuR will now offer cosmetics tubes made from Braskem’s biobased polyethyelene.

Biobased PE can be used for extrusion blow molding and the product is recyclable. High-density polyethylene grades can have more than 90% biobased content, with low-density grades upwards of 95%.

“Green PE offers ideal properties for this purpose,” Patrick Zimmermann, Director Sales and Marketing at FKuR tells EPPM. “That’s why our co-operation with cosmetic tube manufacturers is already very successful … They show how bio-based plastics can be used to particular advantage in this area of application, because they also clearly point out the environmental awareness of brand owners on the point of sales.”

FKuR will formally launch the product next month at CosmeticBusiness 2019 in Munich. The company is also working on more applications in cosmetics as well as biobased plastics that can replace polypropylene.
