In Argentina, Miguel Gutiérrez, President of oil and gas company YPF, made a big announcement this week that YPF will start producing biofuels. “The company’s commitment is based on the integration of fuels and participation in the bioenergy sector, not only as buyers but also as producers,” Gutiérrez said at the International Week of Bioenergy – Argentina 2018 conference.
According to Clarin, “Gutiérrez’s statements are a 180 degree turn in YPF’s relationship with biofuels . Until now, the largest oil company in the country had been reluctant to the biofuel policy, but the firm decision of the energy secretariat to advance in the free competition of fuels would have driven this decision.”
