In Indonesia, the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) proposed the establishment of an integrated laboratory of bioproduct (iLAB) to increase economic value-added and create employment through agriculture and forestry. The iLAB will function as a reference laboratory and reference for the development of Indonesian bioproducts in the future. One indicator of iLAB achievement is an increase in the level of technology readiness (TKT) of various bioproduct materials from a scale of 3-5 to 7-9.

Head of the Biomaterial Research Center, Sulaeman Yusuf said that the Biomaterial Research Center has officially been designated as the Lignocellulose Science and Technology Center (PUI). “One of our focuses is creating jobs through agriculture, industry, tourism and services other productive by submitting iLAB. The iLAB concept is to combine the concept of analyzing and characterizing biological raw materials along with their process and formulation technology and equipped with an integrated testing system, quality certified,” said Sulaeman.
