In Singapore, a well-attended sustainability festival featured a number of biobased solutions, including tableware made from rice husks, aromatherapy oils, and organic soaps.

Husk’s Ware, a Singaporean company making biodegradable but reusable cutlery and tableware out of rice husks held one of the 120 booths, as did TreeDots, an online marketplace for unwanted by still edible food.

Food vendors at Earthfest served plant-based food on plates and bowls made of sugarcane fiber, while utensils were made out of bamboo. Once the festival ends, Quan Fa Organic Farm will compost the cutlery and use it as fertilizer. Earthfest sold 7,000 attendees and included a movie screening and market.
