In the United Kingdom, Cardiff University is looking for a new contractor to complete its £135 million (nearly $175 million) Innovation Campus in Wales. The new Innovation Campus will include a research center for compound semiconductors, a state-of-the-art catalysis facility for chemical sciences research, a creative building for start-ups in partnership with a clinical innovation incubator, and SPARK – the first social science research center to partner academics with various sectors to design and test solutions to problems in society. The campus will include several new buildings aimed for completion by 2019. Kier was contracted for the first phase of the project and it’s unclear why Kier isn’t following onto the second phase.
