In Wisconsin, after four months of searching, Accelerated Genetics, a cattle genetics cooperative, has a new CEO, Janet Keller. The board decided to hire her for her communication skills and because she has worked with Accelerated Genetics before starting as far bas as the 1980s giving bull barn tours and eventually becoming the vice president of communications. A dairy farmer herself, she has a passion for raising cattle and polled genetics.
It is hoped that Keller will help turn around the company to be more profitable since it had a $2.6 million net loss in 2016. They have started implementing several new things like electronic invoices and an updated accounting system, and cutting down on some other things like liquidating half its bull population which isn’t needed as much now with genomics.
