In Norway, a professor from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s Centre of Molecular Inflammation Research is using big data to collect and analyze information on how a body reacts when its immune system is attacked by a virus and the inflammation that occurs from various diseases. He analyzes the details in the reaction and one gene at a time as well as using large datasets and computing systems. This allows him and his team to use both modern technology and detailed minute by minute mapping to understand what happens in the cell when attacked by a virus.
