In Indiana, competitors, including a wide range of schools, farmers and entrepreneurs from all over the country, are announced for the 2017 agBOT Challenge. There are two competitions being held at the June 23-25, 2017 event. The first is a Seeding Competition where PeeDee Precision Ag, Team Grit, Virginia Tech, California Polytechnic, and others will compete with each other to develop the best unmanned robotic system that can plant in a field on its own. The second is a Weed & Feed Competition where Purdue University Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, North Star Robotics, Prairie Robotics, South Newton High School, Team Gizmoze, Team Agribotist, and others will compete to develop the best unmanned robotic system that can identify and eliminate weeds while feeding beneficial plants in a field. Cash prizes are being awarded for each of the two competitions, including a first prize of $30,000.
