Japanese coalition to trial clean fuel certificates using imported HVO
In Japan, nine companies have come together to demonstrate the “Clean Fuel Certificate System” promoted by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. ENEOS will import HVO and will provide environmental value certificates for the introduction of the clean fuel certificate system and verification of the system design issues. In addition to the consolidated companies (NTT DOCOMO, Kashima Construction, Shimizu Construction, Tsurumi Sun Marine, T2, Tokyu Construction, NIPPO, JAL), several companies including Toyota Motor Corporation will participate in this demonstration as a consumer company, verifying the use of environmental value certificates and examining operational issues. In the future, we are considering responses to domestic and overseas systems and regulations such as the SHK system and the GHG Protocol, and it is expected that the system will be designed to be a system that can be appropriately reflected in companies’ decarbonization efforts by certifying the environmental value of next-generation fuels and transferring them to consumer companies through this system.
