Guangzhou Port adds dockside green methanol bunkering
In China, Guangzhou Port completed its first terminal-based green methanol bunkering Sept. 28 at its Nansha port area, where the Da Qing 268 supplied 281.6 metric tons of fuel to COSCO Shipping Carnation, Manifold Times reports.
Operated by Sinobunker, Da Qing 268 is described as China’s first methanol dual-fuel oil and chemical bunkering vessel, with 10,362 cubic meters of tank capacity. The receiving vessel is one of COSCO Shipping’s first 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships, operating on the U.S. West Coast trade route.
Guangzhou Port previously completed green methanol bunkering at anchorage and LNG bunkering alongside terminals. Its alternative fuel services now encompass LNG, green methanol and biofuels for container ships, bulk carriers and roll-on/roll-off vessels through multiple bunkering methods.
