Global bio-based PET market to reach $4.79 billion by 2032, research finds
In India, QY Research reported that the global bio-based PET market was valued at $2.65 billion in 2025 and is anticipated to reach $4.79 billion by 2032, witnessing a CAGR of 8.8% during the forecast period 2026-2032.
Bio-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is produced using renewable feedstocks such as plant-derived monoethylene glycol (MEG) combined with terephthalic acid (PTA).
“The material is widely used for bottles, packaging films, fibers, automotive interiors, and building materials. Increasing global emphasis on biodegradable and recyclable plastics is accelerating the adoption of bio-based PET, particularly in fast-moving consumer goods and beverage packaging,” the report stated.
Asia-Pacific dominates the global market, accounting for the largest consumption share. Strong packaging demand, rapid industrialization, and sustainability initiatives across China, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia are driving growth, the report added.
“North America is witnessing increasing investments in renewable polymers, supported by brand commitments and recycling infrastructure development. Beverage companies are actively integrating bio-content PET bottles,” it said.
