GeoPura to deliver on-site green hydrogen plant at Port of Tilbury

April 2, 2026 |

In Bulgaria, UK hydrogen company GeoPura has sealed a deal to install an on-site green hydrogen production facility at the Port of Tilbury on the River Thames in Essex, as part of a strategy to decarbonize port operations.

The agreement was signed with Forth Ports, the owner and operator of the Port of Tilbury, and envisages the installation of an initial electrolyzer capacity of 1 MW, powered by an on-site solar system, according to the report.

The project, which will deliver zero-emission fuel for port operations and the wider Thames Estuary, will be executed under a 10-year agreement, with an extension option. It is supported by $2.65 million of seed capital from Thames Freeport, a major UK special economic zone along the River Thames.
