Finland’s Wärtsilä wins LNG bunkering systems order for China-built ships
In Finland, Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has been selected to provide the LNG cargo handling and fuel gas systems for two bunkering vessels under construction at Zhejiang XinLe Shipbuilding in China for a Hong Kong-based owner.
The 20,000 cubic meter ships are designed to refuel LNG-powered vessels at sea, a segment that has expanded as more shipowners adopt the fuel. Wärtsilä’s contract covers the equipment and integrated controls needed to store, manage, and transfer the gas safely during bunkering operations.
“The use of LNG is key in enabling a green shipping future. Our systems provide efficient solutions for bunkering vessels serving LNG-fueled ships and our comprehensive Cargo Handling and Fuel Gas Supply systems offer a flexible, well-proven solution for operational efficiency,” said Barry Yang, General Manager, Sales, China, Wärtsilä Gas Solutions.
