European Commission launches call for interest in the European Bioeconomy Investment Deployment Group

March 29, 2026 |

In Belgium, The European Commission launched a call for interest to participate in the European Bioeconomy Investment Deployment Group, a new platform aimed at accelerating investment in the EU’s growing bioeconomy sector.

The initiative follows the adoption of the Strategic Framework for a Competitive and Sustainable EU Bioeconomy and responds to findings from the European Investment Bank’s report ‘Scaling up Europe’s bio-based industries’, which highlights both the scale of the investment opportunity and the persistence of financing gaps, in particular for demonstration and first-of-a-kind industrial facilities.

The Deployment Group will bring together the European Commission, the European Investment Bank Group, national promotional banks, private financial institutions and selected investors.

Its objective is to mobilize coordinated public and private investment to scale up bio-based industries, strengthen the pipeline of bankable projects, and improve financing tools such as risk-sharing and blended finance.
