Dandelion-based rubber firm QuberTech receives $4.3M

May 25, 2026 |

In the United Kingdom, a startup scaling extraction of natural rubber from genetically engineered dandelions has received £3.4 million (US$4.3 million) in grants and equity.

Dubbed QuberTech, the company was founded to address the supply chain vulnerabilities of natural rubber, which can only be grown under narrow conditions and is often disrupted by climate shocks, geopolitical tensions, and pests. The company’s dandelions can be cultivated in controlled environments and have been engineered to produce natural rubber alongside a range of other usable biological compounds.

“This critical funding enables us to accelerate R&D, expand our team, and validate our platform at a small pilot scale as we move towards commercial deployment,” said QuberTech CEO Dr. Ofir Meir.
